Conclusion

Congratulations on completing Foundations of Drawing! You have now developed the fundamental knowledge you need to draw effectively for your visual arts practice. Through each chapter and the corresponding learning activities, you practiced different drawing skills with a variety of media. These include gesture, texture, contour line, value, color, perspective, and more.

Drawing is a skill. It requires you to look closely to better perceive the world around you. It also requires you to think deeply about how we see and what it means to represent an image. As with any skill, the more you practice, the stronger the skill becomes. Foundations of Drawing is just the beginning. Now it’s time to embark on your own mark-making journey!
