She teaches all levels of journalism courses and advises both the award-winning campus newspaper, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/telescope\/\">The Telescope<\/a>, and the campus magazine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/impactmagazine\/\">IMPACT<\/a>. She loves being a teacher and adores her students.\n\nBefore securing the full-time job at Palomar, Hiro taught journalism, advertising and communications at San Diego State University and the University of Phoenix. She previously worked for a decade as a reporter at local and national newspapers, writing news, business and feature stories on government, schools and social issues.\n\nHiro earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a master's in newspaper management from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
