This is an important next step, and essentially the \u201croad map\u201d that you will follow when you finally sit down to write your screenplay.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\">A Treatment Outline also allows me, the instructor, to analyze your story outline and give you valuable feedback to help you fix any \u201cplot holes,\u201d weak or missing turning points, slow pacing and even missing character arcs before you start your first draft.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\">This essentially forces you, the writer, to think through your entire story in a present tense, narrative format, so that when you sit down to write your screenplay, the \u201cleft brain\u201d work of structuring the story is done, allowing the \u201cright brain\u201d to step in and get to work.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\">Here are the elements to include in your Treatment Outline:<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">Finished Treatment Outline should be about 3-4 pages long<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">It MUST BE TYPED using 12 font<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">Write in present tense only<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">Each scene card will be written as one or more paragraphs in your treatment<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">Leave a double space between each paragraph<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">Label your paragraphs:<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">OPENING<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">INCITING INCIDENT\/CATALYST<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">IST TURNING POINT<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">MIDPOINT<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">2ND TURNING POINT<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">CLIMAX<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 72pt;text-indent: 18pt\">RESOLUTION\/CONCLUSION<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\">Your Treatment Outline, should include <em>more details than your scene cards<\/em> and include the following:<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\" style=\"margin-left: 36pt;text-indent: 18pt\">Scene Heading - Location &amp; Time \u2013 Day or Night (example: INT. Bianca watches from the stands.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"import-Normal\">Adonis squares up with his opponent. Leo comes in hard and for a moment it looks like Leo is getting the upper hand, but Adonis pulls out the stops and takes him down with one powerful, right hook.
